ABOUT THE PROJECT
PROJECT OBJECTIVES
To create a network of small rural communities for the protection, promotion and valorisation of European rural landscapes that boosts new experiences of sustainable tourism and digital and ecological transition actions, but also defines strategies of participatory governance based on the social, cultural and historical values offered by traditional agricultural landscapes, as assets for a greener, more digital and more resilient European rural areas.
In order to ensure the continuity of the network beyond the project lifetime, winEU.rur will establish guidelines for sustainable tourism experiences in rural Europe based on the cultural and historical values of traditional agricultural landscapes, through the participative governance common strategy. This common strategy will support the exchange of best practices, experiences, trends and knowledge, whilst creating joint synergies leading to a smart, sustainable and inclusive growth of traditional agricultural landscapes, as drivers of new tourism experiences.
SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES
To exchange best practices, experiences, trends and knowledge and create joint synergies leading to a smart, sustainable and inclusive growth of traditional agricultural landscapes, as drivers of new tourism experiences, where governance in the definition of local development strategies plays a crucial role.
To improve the mutual understanding, coexistence, solidarity, neighbourliness and cooperation, learn about EU multicultural diversity and promote opportunities for social and cultural engagement, based on ancient ethnographic traditions linked to tilling and harvesting the land.
To encourage new EU citizenship and participation in the European democratic life and towards the valorisation of the cultural and natural heritage (tangible and intangible) of their rural communities and of their Common Europe.
To promote European citizenship and improve the conditions for participation of the EU’s rural population, encouraging citizens’ debate on the future of Europe’s traditional agricultural landscapes and governance in the search for solutions to ensure the sustainability and digital transition of rural development.
