I do not really have a story of my own regarding the mentioned topics, sadly, however I can share what I have heard from others. Since I believe the main topic to responsible tourism, I first want to mention that building the necessary infrastructure while keeping the local environment intact is of utmost importance. For example, when it comes to hotels, they can either be built using local materials that do not require long transportation, or already existing buildings can be repurposed for the task. Adding parts of the local culture in the architecture or the interior design is sure to attract tourists looking for novelty in unknown traditions. Setting up the hotels and other infrastructure should obviously involve the local community as much as possible. Another way to protect the local environment would be to reduce plastic use. I have once read of an initiative which replaced plastic bottles at a resort with multi-use metal bottles which the tourists give back before they leave. I think it is also important to expand on beekeeping in particular, as bees are instrumental for the environment while simultaniously being very vulnerable to today’s pollution. Investing in beekeeping will also benefit most other agricultures, it will offer bio honey and honey products to sell, and a museum centered around bees and beekeeping could be built as a means of entertainment for the tourists and interested locals, similar to the bee museum near Sunny Beach, Bulgaria. I do not really have any experience with winegrowing as a business, so I cannot offer any relevant insights on that matter, however wine tasting including locally sourced cheese and meat will boost multiple businesses at once while keeping delivery costs low. Allowing small groups of tourists to pick their own grapes may be a good way to attract them.
Young, ambitious and creative people participated in the event, their attitudes, principles were heard and everyone united around the ideas and projects that would significantly change the territory of Bolyarovo municipality. The cultural and natural resources and values that Bolyarovo municipality has in combination with the development of wine tourism, would contribute to the feeling of wine tourism and tourism place with authenticity.
Such events are a good way to look for new opportunities for the development of a certain area. Tourism is leading in the development of every region, and natural features are a plus for every small municipality.Good communication between the management of the municipality and the residents is important for the development in every direction and giving opportunities for the development of our small municipality.
Sustainable tourism presents a valuable opportunity for small towns and villages, which can be further developed through eco-friendly accommodations, educating visitors on local conservation efforts, and promoting low-impact activities. Additionally, creating and promoting festivals and events that showcase local wine production could be another effective way to enhance tourism and highlight the unique offerings of winegrowing regions.
As the project activities were carried out, the local community was changing, albeit slowly. Young people increasingly participate in events, make their demands.
And the municipal administration prepared a project proposal for an idea proposed by young people during the local events. In this way, the local community will be shown that their participation is important and meaningful. On the other hand, an idea will be implemented that will contribute to the improvement of the urban environment.
The settlements at the borders can benefit from unifying people. By hosting an international event (once a year) for people from different countries in the EU to share traditional dances, songs, and cuisine, we can all play a part in preserving Europe’s cultural diversity, building confidence, and increasing our knowledge of the continent’s rich heritage.
Asking young people about their attitudes and views is always useful. Organizing such events is a good way for a new beginning. To search and find opportunities for the development of a given area. The development of tourism is leading for the development of each region, and natural resources are a given that must be used, but also protected. Good communication between the management of the municipality and the residents is important for development in any direction.
Sustainable tourism is essential for rural areas like Prekmurje. Events highlighting our unique offerings, from local wines and foods to eco-conscious practices, can make a big impact. It’s exciting to imagine a future where Prekmurje is known not only for its beauty and culture but also for community-led tourism, attracting people who appreciate the environment and support local businesses. These initiatives give young people a reason to stay and contribute to the area’s growth and sustainability.
As a Prekmurje resident, I think sustainable projects that incorporate our wine and culinary traditions while protecting the environment could be a game-changer. Building with local materials, creating eco-accommodations, and educating visitors on conservation would showcase our values and way of life.
The development of initiatives that promote the protection of our territory and our heritage will always leave benefits of great impact. Getting the involvement of all social, institutional, etc. actors is a challenge but at the same time the only way to achieve a global strategy that helps protect our rural areas.
I have lived in Vedra all my life and I appreciate any action that protects our natural and cultural heritage, so I think this project is really interesting
Develop a custom mobile app that provides detailed information about cultural sites, historical landmarks, museums, and local traditions within Bolyarovo. GPS integration can help tourists navigate between scattered sites, offering audio guides, maps, and real-time information about nearby points of interest. Since rural areas may have limited internet connectivity, ensure that the app has offline capabilities, allowing tourists to download relevant content (maps, guides) before their visit. Integrating gamified elements into the tourism experience can engage younger audiences. For example, tourists can earn badges, points, or rewards by visiting multiple cultural sites, completing educational quizzes about local history, or participating in challenges that teach about the heritage of Bolyarovo.
The development of such initiatives that inspire us to preserve our history is extremely useful. It is very valuable for small towns to protect their traditions, this type of project is truly incredible. Thanks to the entire team.

The project has huge potential, because what we can show to tourists or investors in our area is fertile land and beautiful nature full of animals. To preserve the traditions in the small villages, such as making wine, harvesting as it was in the past.

As a representative of the interest of young people in the municipality of Bolyarovo, I belive that the implementation of partnerships projects aimed at promoting remote regions of the European Union based on the resources they have at their disposal is the right approach to stabilizing these regions. Especially when young people are involved.
We are very proud of promoting this project. We have learned from our partners and we have been able to value the good practices carried out in our territory. Vedra has an enourmous natural and cultural heritage and we have to work on protecting it.

Participating in the Hackathon on October 7th in Vedra, as part of the WinEU.rur project, was a truly eye-opening experience. The session, using the Oasis methodology, shifted my perspective on how we approach local challenges. Instead of focusing on problems, we were encouraged to think about our communities’ potential within a broader European context.
I found it inspiring to see how we were able to identify practical steps for empowering women, vulnerable groups, and rural communities. The focus on sustainable change both locally and globally resonated deeply with me. This event reinforced the importance of collaboration, not just within our local rural communities but across Europe, to create a more sustainable and inclusive future.

By incorporating WINEUR’s emphasis on experiential learning and intergenerational knowledge exchange, the Campus Rural program could further enrich its impact, creating opportunities for long-term partnerships that support sustainable rural tourism.
Moreover, I am particularly impressed by the strategic clarity evident in WINEUR, which resonates with the OASIS methodology—a framework I would be eager to apply in future projects. By adopting this structured approach, programs like Campus Rural could systematically set clear objectives (O), analyze community needs (A), design targeted strategies (S), and ensure effective implementation (I) and follow-up (S). In addition to the impressive results from the Vedra session and the existing platform for sharing best practices (wineurur.lulendava.si/stories2), I would suggest the following to further enhance the strategy:
1. Strengthen interregional collaboration: Facilitate online workshops or forums that allow stakeholders from different regions to discuss challenges and opportunities. This would complement the platform by enabling real-time knowledge exchange and support.
2. Prioritize long-term funding mechanisms: Advocate for EU-level funding streams to ensure the sustainability of actions initiated at the local level, emphasizing participatory governance as a key criterion for funding eligibility.
3. Develop indicators for social impact: While economic and environmental impacts are often measured, it’s equally important to track progress on inclusivity, particularly the engagement of youth and women in decision-making and implementation.

Rural Europe must be aware that the protection of its landscapes and traditions is key to maintaining its essence and to seeking a sustainable and progressive future for its territory. In this work, this project has been an initiative of great value.

Slovenia’s approach, integrating eco-tourism with small-scale family wineries, offers a perfect model for combining tradition with innovation. WinEu.rur is a very interesting project. Focusing on citizen participation to protect their territory, involving all social and institutional actors in this, can be the key to preserving our rural areas.
I have participated in several exchanges with other territories and I consider that sharing experiences with people from other territories is always useful. If, in addition, as in this project, they are territories with similar characteristics, the benefit can be much greater.
