I do not really have a story of my own regarding the mentioned topics, sadly, however I can share what I have heard from others. Since I believe the main topic to responsible tourism, I first want to mention that building the necessary infrastructure while keeping the local environment intact is of utmost importance. For example, when it comes to hotels, they can either be built using local materials that do not require long transportation, or already existing buildings can be repurposed for the task. Adding parts of the local culture in the architecture or the interior design is sure to attract tourists looking for novelty in unknown traditions. Setting up the hotels and other infrastructure should obviously involve the local community as much as possible. Another way to protect the local environment would be to reduce plastic use. I have once read of an initiative which replaced plastic bottles at a resort with multi-use metal bottles which the tourists give back before they leave. I think it is also important to expand on beekeeping in particular, as bees are instrumental for the environment while simultaniously being very vulnerable to today’s pollution. Investing in beekeeping will also benefit most other agricultures, it will offer bio honey and honey products to sell, and a museum centered around bees and beekeeping could be built as a means of entertainment for the tourists and interested locals, similar to the bee museum near Sunny Beach, Bulgaria. I do not really have any experience with winegrowing as a business, so I cannot offer any relevant insights on that matter, however wine tasting including locally sourced cheese and meat will boost multiple businesses at once while keeping delivery costs low. Allowing small groups of tourists to pick their own grapes may be a good way to attract them.

Young, ambitious and creative people participated in the event, their attitudes, principles were heard and everyone united around the ideas and projects that would significantly change the territory of Bolyarovo municipality. The cultural and natural resources and values that Bolyarovo municipality has in combination with the development of wine tourism, would contribute to the feeling of wine tourism and tourism place with authenticity.

    1. Miroslava Dimitrova

Such events are a good way to look for new opportunities for the development of a certain area. Tourism is leading in the development of every region, and natural features are a plus for every small municipality.Good communication between the management of the municipality and the residents is important for the development in every direction and giving opportunities for the development of our small municipality.

  3. Galena Gerdzhikova

Sustainable tourism presents a valuable opportunity for small towns and villages, which can be further developed through eco-friendly accommodations, educating visitors on local conservation efforts, and promoting low-impact activities. Additionally, creating and promoting festivals and events that showcase local wine production could be another effective way to enhance tourism and highlight the unique offerings of winegrowing regions.

  4. Nina Terzieva

As the project activities were carried out, the local community was changing, albeit slowly. Young people increasingly participate in events, make their demands.
And the municipal administration prepared a project proposal for an idea proposed by young people during the local events. In this way, the local community will be shown that their participation is important and meaningful. On the other hand, an idea will be implemented that will contribute to the improvement of the urban environment.

  5. Elena Gerdzhikova

The settlements at the borders can benefit from unifying people. By hosting an international event (once a year) for people from different countries in the EU to share traditional dances, songs, and cuisine, we can all play a part in preserving Europe’s cultural diversity, building confidence, and increasing our knowledge of the continent’s rich heritage.

  6. Zlatina Petkova

Asking young people about their attitudes and views is always useful. Organizing such events is a good way for a new beginning. To search and find opportunities for the development of a given area. The development of tourism is leading for the development of each region, and natural resources are a given that must be used, but also protected. Good communication between the management of the municipality and the residents is important for development in any direction.

Sustainable tourism is essential for rural areas like Prekmurje. Events highlighting our unique offerings, from local wines and foods to eco-conscious practices, can make a big impact. It’s exciting to imagine a future where Prekmurje is known not only for its beauty and culture but also for community-led tourism, attracting people who appreciate the environment and support local businesses. These initiatives give young people a reason to stay and contribute to the area’s growth and sustainability.

  8. Sven Sarjaš

As a Prekmurje resident, I think sustainable projects that incorporate our wine and culinary traditions while protecting the environment could be a game-changer. Building with local materials, creating eco-accommodations, and educating visitors on conservation would showcase our values and way of life.

  9. Vanessa Crespo

The development of initiatives that promote the protection of our territory and our heritage will always leave benefits of great impact. Getting the involvement of all social, institutional, etc. actors is a challenge but at the same time the only way to achieve a global strategy that helps protect our rural areas.

  10. Silvia Couto

I have lived in Vedra all my life and I appreciate any action that protects our natural and cultural heritage, so I think this project is really interesting

  11. Philip Krastev

Develop a custom mobile app that provides detailed information about cultural sites, historical landmarks, museums, and local traditions within Bolyarovo. GPS integration can help tourists navigate between scattered sites, offering audio guides, maps, and real-time information about nearby points of interest. Since rural areas may have limited internet connectivity, ensure that the app has offline capabilities, allowing tourists to download relevant content (maps, guides) before their visit. Integrating gamified elements into the tourism experience can engage younger audiences. For example, tourists can earn badges, points, or rewards by visiting multiple cultural sites, completing educational quizzes about local history, or participating in challenges that teach about the heritage of Bolyarovo.

  12. Slavena Dimitrova

The development of such initiatives that inspire us to preserve our history is extremely useful. It is very valuable for small towns to protect their traditions, this type of project is truly incredible. Thanks to the entire team.

  13. Hristiyana Кralcheva

The development of tourism is leading to the development of any region, and natural resources are a given that must be used, but also protected. Good communication between the management of the municipality and the residents is important for development in any direction.

  14. Румяна Стойчева

As a resident of the municipality of Bolyarovo, I can say that sustainable tourism is extremely important for small settlements, and participating in an event like this is very useful and interesting because it provides the opportunity to create new ideas and search for opportunities for the development of our environment.

  15. Sultanka Nikolova

By organizing such events, a bridge is created between tradition and modernity. The participation of more young people is key to express their ideas and preserve local traditions. The cooperation between the administration and society creates initiatives that lead to sustainable development of the region.

  16. Plamen Hadhziev

The project has huge potential, because what we can show to tourists or investors in our area is fertile land and beautiful nature full of animals. To preserve the traditions in the small villages, such as making wine, harvesting as it was in the past.

  17. Dimitar Manolov

As a resident of Bolyarovo municipality, I believe that sustainable tourism plays a crucial role in the growth of small communities. Taking part in events like this is both valuable and engaging, as they offer a platform to generate fresh ideas and explore ways to enhance our local environment.

  18. Svetlozar Kizhev

As a representative of the interest of young people in the municipality of Bolyarovo, I belive that the implementation of partnerships projects aimed at promoting remote regions of the European Union based on the resources they have at their disposal is the right approach to stabilizing these regions. Especially when young people are involved.

  19. Carlos Martinez

We are very proud of promoting this project. We have learned from our partners and we have been able to value the good practices carried out in our territory. Vedra has an enourmous natural and cultural heritage and we have to work on protecting it.

  20. Manuel Costa Carneiro

It has been very interesting to learn through this project all the good practices that are developed in the participating territories.

  21. Jose Cuevas

It is important that public institutios are involved in the protection of our traditions and our landscapes. The European rural territories should not be left in the background, we must enhance its heritage.

  22. Sonia Gamas

Although I have not participated directly in the activities of this project, as a resident of Vedra I greatly value any initiative that seeks to protect our enormous heritage.

  23. Adriana Calviño

Participating in the Hackathon on October 7th in Vedra, as part of the WinEU.rur project, was a truly eye-opening experience. The session, using the Oasis methodology, shifted my perspective on how we approach local challenges. Instead of focusing on problems, we were encouraged to think about our communities’ potential within a broader European context.
I found it inspiring to see how we were able to identify practical steps for empowering women, vulnerable groups, and rural communities. The focus on sustainable change both locally and globally resonated deeply with me. This event reinforced the importance of collaboration, not just within our local rural communities but across Europe, to create a more sustainable and inclusive future.

  24. Marko

By using the OASIS methodology, participants were indeed able to share best practices, imagine future possibilities, and collaboratively design concrete actions for preserving and promoting these important agricultural areas. The positive feedback and actionable outcomes confirm the event’s success in advancing the goals of the winEU.rur project.

  35. Marko Brozović

The best example of what a group of creative, open minded people can do together. We all should continue on setting new goals and approaches to the culture and tourism in order to raise overally quality in rural areas

  36. Marina Hercigonja

It’s my first time hearing of OASIS Methodology thanks to this project and those activities. Very interesting, I wish we have more things like this in our area.

  37. Karolina Marušić

Apart from doing the actual things, it’s also important to dream and imagine. It’s also the part of the process that leads to amazing new approaches. Very nice.

  38. Mateja Piškorić

Tradition of winemaking in our region is truly something special. It’s not just about producing wine, but about preserving a way of life that has been passed down through generations. The care and knowledge that local winemakers pour into their craft is a testament to the deep connection between the land and its people. It’s inspiring to see how this rich heritage is being preserved, while also embracing modern sustainable practices that ensure the future of our vineyards. The blend of tradition and innovation here is what makes our wine culture so unique and valued. I am glad that was recognized.

  39. Jasenka Vuk

The use of the OASIS methodology was nice, in guiding everyone through a structured yet open process, allowing for both reflection and actionable outcomes. Great blend!

  40. Lucija Jurak

Once we understand how important it is to preserve local traditions and the tradition of winemaking, then we will know that we are on the right path. These activities are the first step, a positive step towards the valorization of cultural heritage and rural areas.

  41. Dimo Nikolov

A similar kind of project for the improvement of the region. This is a good opportunity to exchange good practices and interact ideas and solutions. Sharing good experience, good projects; getting to know people of different nationality, lifestyle and culture.

  42. Xisela Mosquera

Como participante, es un placer poder aprender buenas practicas de países tan lejanos y cercanos al mismo tiempo, ya que todos buscamos los mismos intereses patrimoniales y culturales.

  43. The WINEUR project stands out as an exemplary initiative that combines cultural heritage, sustainable tourism, and community engagement. Its focus on preserving and promoting the winemaking traditions of the Vipava Valley through innovative educational approaches and collaboration with local stakeholders is truly inspiring.

As a tourism specialist, I see strong potential for synergy between WINEUR’s good practices and the Campus Rural program in Spain. Both initiatives emphasize rural development, cultural preservation, and fostering connections between academic institutions and local communities. By incorporating WINEUR’s emphasis on experiential learning and intergenerational knowledge exchange, the Campus Rural program could further enrich its impact, creating opportunities for long-term partnerships that support sustainable rural tourism.

Moreover, I am particularly impressed by the strategic clarity evident in WINEUR, which resonates with the OASIS methodology—a framework I would be eager to apply in future projects. By adopting this structured approach, programs like Campus Rural could systematically set clear objectives (O), analyze community needs (A), design targeted strategies (S), and ensure effective implementation (I) and follow-up (S). This would maximize their contributions to the socio-economic and cultural resilience of rural areas in both Spain and Europe.

The cross-border exchange of best practices between WINEUR and Campus Rural could forge enduring bonds, inspire mutual growth, and create lasting benefits for rural communities and the students involved. I look forward to exploring these possibilities further and contributing to this shared vision of sustainable tourism and heritage preservation.

  44. This is a shining example of what can be achieved when a group of open-minded individuals come together. Let’s keep pushing boundaries, setting fresh goals, and introducing innovative approaches to culture and tourism. By doing so, we can collectively enhance the overall quality of life and experiences in rural areas.

  45. Roxana

I am particularly impressed by the methodology’s emphasis on:
    – Identifying and building upon existing best practices in sustainable tourism and innovative cultural management. This ensures that we are leveraging what is already working while imagining new possibilities.
    – Dreaming together as a community to envision a sustainable and inclusive future for our vineyard landscapes, which integrates both technology and cultural identity.
In addition to the impressive results from the Vedra session and the existing platform for sharing best practices (wineurur.lulendava.si/stories2), I would suggest the following to further enhance the strategy:
    1. Strengthen interregional collaboration: Facilitate online workshops or forums that allow stakeholders from different regions to discuss challenges and opportunities. This would complement the platform by enabling real-time knowledge exchange and support.
    2. Prioritize long-term funding mechanisms: Advocate for EU-level funding streams to ensure the sustainability of actions initiated at the local level, emphasizing participatory governance as a key criterion for funding eligibility.
    3. Develop indicators for social impact: While economic and environmental impacts are often measured, it’s equally important to track progress on inclusivity, particularly the engagement of youth and women in decision-making and implementation.
These additions would reinforce the project’s inclusive and forward-thinking approach, ensuring that traditional agricultural vineyard landscapes are not only preserved but also become models of sustainable and participatory development across Europe.
Congratulations to the Municipality of Vedra for hosting such a productive and visionary event!

  46. The application of the OASIS Methodology to gather local insights and transform them into concrete actions emphasizes the power of community-based solutions. It’s truly inspiring to witness how our region’s traditions are being preserved and creatively adapted for a sustainable future.

  47. Massimo Serafini

It has been truly fascinating to explore the excellent practices implemented across the participating regions throughout this project.

As a resident of the Capannori municipality and a professional in the tourism industry, I firmly believe that sustainable tourism is key to fostering growth in small communities. Participating in events like this is not only enriching but also inspiring, as they provide an excellent opportunity to exchange innovative ideas and discover new ways to improve and preserve our local environment.

  49. Laura Lionetti

We are truly honored to be a partner in this project. Through collaboration with our partners, we have gained valuable insights and have been able to highlight the best practices implemented in our region. Capannori boasts an incredible natural and cultural heritage, and it is essential that we focus on preserving it for future generations.

  50. Sustainable tourism offers a wonderful chance for small towns and villages to thrive by embracing eco-friendly practices. This can be achieved through green accommodations, educating visitors about local conservation initiatives, and encouraging activities that leave a minimal environmental footprint. Furthermore, organizing and celebrating festivals centered around local wine production can serve as a fantastic way to boost tourism while showcasing the distinctive charm and traditions of winegrowing areas.

  51. I believe that sustainable initiatives that blend our rich wine and culinary heritage with a strong commitment to environmental preservation could truly transform the landscape. By utilizing local materials, designing eco-friendly accommodations, and promoting conservation education, we can highlight our values and way of life in a meaningful and impactful way.

  52. Francesco Palagi

As an advocate for the interests of young people in Capannori Municipality, I am convinced that pursuing collaborative projects focused on highlighting the potential of remote areas within the European Union by leveraging their available resources represents an effective strategy for ensuring the stability of these regions. This is particularly impactful when young individuals are actively engaged.

“Incredible how this project combined sustainable tourism with the preservation of traditional agricultural landscapes. It’s inspiring to see heritage and innovation working hand in hand.”

  57. Egon Krampač

The synergy between local stakeholders and the emphasis on mutual understanding and solidarity really stand out. Such collaboration is essential for long-term growth.

  58. Marika Feher

A sustainable wine tourism certification program is a brilliant way to promote both quality and environmental responsibility. This could become a benchmark for other regions.

  60. Juan Cernadas

Participating in this project knowing the cultural wealth of other territories has been one of the best experiences I have had collaborating on projects

  61. Enrique Vazquez

I had the opportunity to participate in the final event held in Vedra and I believe that the results of the project have had an important impact on the territory

  62. Miriam Gil

As a young person from Vedra, I have to say that this project has focused on many of the values that matter to us as youth, such as sustainable development and the protection of our historical, natural and cultural heritage.

  63. Maite Crespo

Rural Europe must be aware that the protection of its landscapes and traditions is key to maintaining its essence and to seeking a sustainable and progressive future for its territory. In this work, this project has been an initiative of great value.

  64. Darko

The project highlights how winegrowing regions can drive sustainable rural development. Slovenia’s approach, integrating eco-tourism with small-scale family wineries, offers a perfect model for combining tradition with innovation. More exchanges of best practices like these could strengthen European wine tourism.

  65. Matej L.

I like how the stories celebrate the intersection of wine, culture, and sustainability.

  66. Fernando Gil

WinEu.rur is a very interesting project. Focusing on citizen participation to protect their territory, involving all social and institutional actors in this, can be the key to preserving our rural areas.

  67. Rocio Otero

I have participated in several exchanges with other territories and I consider that sharing experiences with people from other territories is always useful. If, in addition, as in this project, they are territories with similar characteristics, the benefit can be much greater.
