OASIS Local Participatory Action – Bolyarovo

On the 17th of April 2024 the OASIS Local Participatory Action took place in Municipality hall in Bolyarovo. The event was attended by 16 participants from different parts from the local society: stakeholders, government and public authorities, education institutions, rural youth and women and members of organizations representing civil society. The objective of the event was to initiate the creation of the EU strategy of participative governance for the protection, promotion, and valorisation of traditional agricultural vineyard landscapes, thus focusing on the three main topics of the Strategy:

1) Sustainable tourism for the promotion and enhancement of European vineyard landscapes.
2) Innovative technologies for the management of cultural tourism in scattered sites.
3) Sustainable cultural tourism management measures.

The participants decided to go through the individual phases all together, not dividing into groups, but working together. The work started with the introduction of the participants and the organization they come from.

1. Appreciative gaze
The participants were asked to think, to look into the possibilities, the resources available to rural remote wine regions.

2. Affection
The participants had to answer to this questions: What is happening in my territory that is already moving towards these goals? What do we value about it?

• They were tasked with identifying best practices and initiatives that aligned with the project’s three focus areas.
• Each identified practice or initiative was discussed.

3. Dreaming
The participants were given the Worksheet II: Dream and they were asked dream boldly and describe their scenario where the identified values have been fully realized. Everyone had 10 minutes to write down their dream.

4. Care
After Everyone shares their ideas with all, the participants created the collective vision. This happened during the subsequent discussion of each idea.

5. Action
In the last phase, the participants united on the ideas and projects that would significantly change the area of Bolyarovo municipality. They evaluated all the ideas and selected four of them that received the support of all participants.

The outcomes from this event, along with the other partner sessions across Europe, will form the core of the winEU.rur the EU Strategy of participative governance for the protection, promotion and valorization of traditional agricultural vineyard landscapes. This collaborative effort, fueled by the dreams and actions of the main actors of the territory, will ensure the promotion and transferability of the project’s results and values.
